Puzzles.
Both a favorite quarantine pastime and coaching pursuit to put together a team.
But, is putting a team together like building a puzzle?
Does every piece have a predetermined perfect fit?
I’ve come to now view team building as creating a mosaic.
A collection of broken pieces fit together with care, imagination.
Diverse shades, shapes, sizes.
Sharp edges.
Team building is art as much as science.
Recognizing possibility in seeming imperfection.
Scatter the pieces around, consider them carefully, one by one.
Your greatest work of art is there.
